Hello, skincare obsessed friends!
Lately, I’ve had quite a few people ask me about what products I recommend.
Between trying to understand how ingredients can possibly hurt us or help us and choosing from the thousands of products available, it can get really complicated.
Skincare is different for everyone and what works for one person may not work for another. Sometimes it can be scary to try something new because what if I spend all this money and it doesn’t work?!
So today I wanted to share a few game-changing treatments that I use regularly. I’ll start by noting that I have combination skin. It can be oily at times but gets dried out from cool climate and chlorinated water. I’m prone to blackheads and the occasional blemish but rarely have deep painful acne.
–Juice Beauty’s Green Apple Peel is one of my tried and true. It works, it’s organic, and it lasts forever. Generally, I use it once a week. I’ll wash my face with warm water, paint it on with a brush like this one, and let it sit for 5 minutes before washing it off. I’m not going to lie, it burns slightly and leaves my skin pink up to an hour afterward because of the alpha and beta hydroxy acid. It feels like a fresh start for my skin every time. *There is a sensitive skin option too
–Sunday Riley Saturn Mask is the ultimate pore vacuum. I know it sounds crazy, but when I get blackheads that need taking care of once or twice a month, I’ll use this mask on my t-zone immediately following the green apple peel. The peel removes all of the dead skin cells first and then the sulfur-based mask can work its magic more efficiently. I’ll typically leave it on for an hour, but it’s pretty potent so I recommend starting out with 10-20 minutes. Afterward, my pores are super smooth and clear.
–Tata Harper purifying mask is so freaking expensive for the amount that you get. One measly ounce for $65! But, in all honesty, it’s worth it. I don’t use it every week, but I save it for days when I’m feeling really tired and in need of a pick me up. It feels like coffee for my skin, though it doesn’t contain caffeine. I love it for traveling and hangover mornings because it’s detoxifying, super tingly and refreshing.
–Dr. Dennis Gross alpha beta universal daily peel is something I use when my skin is feeling dull and I’m short on time. I love that its travel-friendly because they are individually wrapped wipes. Though I don’t use the peel daily because I’m already using other exfoliating products in my day to day routine, it’s perfect right before applying makeup for a smoother application. Step 1 is the exfoliant and you simply wipe your face and neck and let it sit for 2 minutes. It feels a little tingly, but I haven’t experienced any redness. Then step 2 is the anti-aging neutralizer which does exactly what it says neutralizing the acid.
Well, there you have it, a few of my favorite skin care treatments that I’ve found to work well at keeping my skin glowy and even toned. If you have any further questions about my skincare routine and what products I love, let me know.
One of these days I’d like to do a post about how diet effects my skin, so let me know if you have any questions regarding that.
Wishing you a beautiful day.
