Ever since getting back home to Connecticut, it’s been non-stop, catching up with friends and family and enjoying the beautiful summer time weather. I’m not complaining, it’s good to stay busy.
My life has NOT been perfect though. I feel the need to mention this because bloggers tend to share their highlight reel and I just want to put it out there that I am indeed sharing some of my favorite recent moments. Let’s face it, highlight reels make for prettier photos. In actuality, my husband was really ill all last week and I’ve had to deal with personal struggles as well. It’s not all rainbows over here, but I’m choosing to focus on the positive today.
This past Saturday night we had a date night at a local Hartford restaurant. They were offering a prefix menu fireworks dinner at On20, a fine dining restaurant with an incredible 20th-floor view of the Connecticut River. I kid you not, we had the best seat in the house to watch the fireworks. The service was incredible, the food was AMAZING, and everything was spot on. It was an incredible deal at $60 a person.
The other day we took a ride out to the Ocean House where we hosted our wedding almost 4 years ago. Watch Hill, Rhode Island is such a special place for us and we try to make it there a few times each summer to take in the views. I seriously can’t believe our wedding was four years ago… time flies.
Also, I’ve been loving wearing my favorite bright coral lipstick ever since the weather has been getting hotter again. I love the Hourglass liquid lipsticks because they’re matte and they last so long, which is great for me because I am the worst at remembering to re-apply lipstick. I just love the contrast of blonde hair with dark roots, a bold brow, sunkissed skin, and a neon lip.
My Aunt Lesa recently flew out to San Diego for three weeks to become a certified paddleboard instructor. She teaches a fitness class on the board and gives lessons. Lucky for me, she invited me along for a much-needed lesson. I’m not the best paddler and any help I can get is welcome. It was such a great full body workout and I used so many muscles that I rarely ever use on land. I’m really looking forward to going out with her again on Wednesday.
And just yesterday some friends invited me along for a float down the Farmington River. I know it sounds super redneck, but we just tie our tubes together with rope, bring floating coolers, sunscreen, our solar powered speaker for music and we just float down the river. It’s pretty much the laziest thing you can possibly do on a Sunday afternoon, but it was nice to be in nature without checking my cell phone the entire time. I did, however, take a selfie once back on land…
So, that’s what I’ve been up to lately…
Coming up, I’ll be posting a keto style cookie recipe, a few women who have recently inspired me and some of my favorite products for healthy blonde hair.
Until next time xxx
