During the mercury retrograde, I was feeling stuck in negative thought patterns. It wasn’t terrible, but it just felt like I wasn’t making any progress. You know?
We all have negative thought patterns on a daily basis whether we choose to admit it to ourselves or not.
We judge others, we place blame on others, we feel guilty for eating too much, or we might struggle with the need for validation. Whatever it may be, the negativity is very individual. Everyone has their own shit and deals with it in different ways.
It doesn’t make us bad, it makes us human.
The difference between staying stuck and making progress in our lives really boils down to how we handle our thoughts and emotions.
When I feel stuck in negativity, I really try to surround myself with positivity. I’ll read uplifting books and listen to inspiring podcasts to help me get out of the funk.
Recently, I was listening to Jordan Younger’s “Soul On Fire” podcast and her guest was talking all about his spiritual journey and how he changed his life for the better.
I love hearing stories like these because I think humans are capable of miraculous transformation and it just really inspires the shit out of me.
Of course, I download it to my kindle immediately. And when I finally got around to reading the book, It felt like it had been meant to be.
You see, I was asking ‘the universe’ for an answer to my stuckness/negativity and this book felt like a miracle that basically fell into my lap.
Here’s the description via Amazon:
Letting Go describes a simple and effective means by which to let go of the obstacles to Enlightenment and become free of negativity. During the many decades of the author’s clinical psychiatric practice, the primary aim was to seek the most effective ways to relieve human suffering in all of its many forms. The inner mechanism of surrender was found to be of great practical benefit and is described in this book.
Dr. Hawkins’s previous books focused on advanced states of awareness and Enlightenment. Over the years, thousands of students had asked for a practical technique by which to remove the inner blocks to happiness, love, joy, success, health, and, ultimately, Enlightenment. This book provides a mechanism for letting go of those blocks.
The mechanism of surrender that Dr. Hawkins describes can be done in the midst of everyday life. The book is equally useful for all dimensions of human life: physical health, creativity, financial success, emotional healing, vocational fulfillment, relationships, sexuality, and spiritual growth.
It is an invaluable resource for all professionals who work in the areas of mental health, psychology, medicine, self-help, addiction recovery, and spiritual development.
I’m not exaggerating when I tell you that I could feel the negativity begin to lift after only reading the first chapter. The further that I read the book, the lighter I felt.
I’ve been struggling to write a summary of words to describe it, but I’ll do my best.
The book has helped me to realize that I was allowing my own unhappiness and stuckness. The author explains how our discontent is caused by our emotional blocks. When something comes up that makes us feel uncomfortable, we try to distract ourselves from the emotions in various ways. The letting-go technique teaches us to question our emotions, to deal with them, and to surrender to them. When we surrender we’re able to clear away our blockages and we feel lighter instantly. The negative feelings begin to disappear, we feel more connected to our fellow humans, and we become happier.
I hope writing this post will inspire even just one person to read Letting Go because I know that It has the power to change lives. It’s really a book for everyone, a person living a great life already and a person who has hit rock bottom. I believe it can make the difference for anyone.
Please let me know if you read it, it will make my day.
Lots of love xx
