Soon I’ll be off to Puerto Rico for a two-week long vacation. The first week will be with family on the main island and the second week will be in Vieques with friends.
It’s a great group of people and I’m really looking forward to spending quality time with everyone.
But, my internal control freak is… freaking out.
I’ve been in a routine, taking really great care of myself, eating right and feeling good. I guess I’m just scared of losing the momentum, you know?
I don’t want to come home from vacation feeling terrible.
But ultimately, I have control over my choices. I can’t lock myself in a kale padded cell forever, it’s just not realistic.
So what’s a girl to do?
Well, meditation helps me stay grounded and sane. As an introvert, I’m not the best at big social gatherings. Sharing my space with a group of people makes me anxious and it’s important that I take the time to recharge throughout the day.
Also, I need to stay active.
I’ve been working out regularly for over ten years now and I’ve gone through times when I workout hard and times when I’m more low-key about it, but exercise is such a huge part of my identity. Anytime I skip more than 2 days, I’m a total wreck. It’s my therapy.
Normally I’ll brainstorm ways that I can stay active on vacations because there are always different factors that play into it.
This time I won’t have gym access, so I’ve decided to do The Boho Beautiful in 10 Days program.
I’m really looking forward to switching up my routine for a few weeks and the Boho Beautiful Youtube channel is one of my favorites. I know it’s going to be amazing content and I won’t have to worry about flaky Wifi because all of the videos are downloadable.
I’ll pack this super lightweight yoga mat from Lululemon and a set of 5-pound dumbbells that fit into my suitcase perfectly.
Plus we’re planning to hike, swim, kayak and paddleboard for fun.
My biggest concern of all is the drinking because my friends sure do like to drink and I have zero tolerance these days.
My stomach gets very weak after a couple cocktails and hangovers are painful, so I’m praying that I can keep the booze in check (fingers crossed).
How do you keep a healthy mindset on vacation? Any hangover tips and tricks would be appreciated.
