The East Coast Edit

one coast/four cities

June 6, 2017

I’m back home in Connecticut after 7 months in Miami and week of traveling up the east coast. It feels so damn good to be home, but I walked into a perfectly clean house that suddenly exploded into a mess of dirty laundry/clutter galore.

So, my husband and I have been doing this adventure for years and we’re self-proclaimed road trip professionals at this point and I thought I’d share a brief overview of our stops along the way.

Starting out in Miami, FL, our first stop was Georgia.

Hotel: Two nights at Sea Island (a favorite hotel of all time)

In a word: Heavenly

Food and drinks: Southern Tide (waterfront), The Georgian Room (fine dining), Tavola (cocktails).

Highlights: Getting the ‘southern comfort’ massage at the spa, drinking perfectly crafted skinny margaritas, and laughing my ass off with good company.

Fitness: Expansive grounds for walking and biking/ a huge fitness facility with every exercise option you can imagine/ several pools for swimming. It figures that I ended up doing Tone It Up workouts in my hotel room.

Thoughts: Much to my delight, friends decided to join us at Sea Island last minute. It’s a family resort and most of the people are either with children or retirement age, so it was nice to have our friends there to liven it a bit.

Hotel: The Durham, NC for one night

In a word: Mid-century modern

Food and drinks: Dinner at the restaurant was amazing. Our waitress was helpful and I loved the local lettuces and red pole beef tartare most.

Highlights: You literally feel like you’re in an episode of Mad Men, but sadly no John Hamm look-alikes. I enjoyed the comfortable bed, trendy rooftop bar, and a decaffeinated coconut milk iced latte before our morning departure.

Fitness: They offer rooftop yoga classes, but I wasn’t able to make it because we had to hit the road early that day.

Thoughts: I’m not quite sure if the dog was allowed, but we kind of snuck him in with his carrier and no one noticed. Our dog is well behaved, doesn’t make much noise (unless the doorbell rings), and doesn’t make a mess, so we definitely bend the rules when needed (lol).

the-pendry

Where? The Pendry in Fellman’s Point Baltimore for one night.

In a word: Luxurious

Food and drinks: We had a fantastic dinner at Rec Pier Chop House and a light lunch by the pool before departing.

Highlights: The decor was perfection, they gifted our dog a cute little duck toy, beautiful water views from our room, and best of all the bed was probably the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in.

Fitness: I was able to fit in a quick cardio, core, stretching routine in the state of the art gym.

Thoughts: Having never been to Baltimore, I was absolutely blown away by the beauty and hospitality at the Pendry Hotel. The staff was incredible, the building was brand new and stunning, the rooms were luxurious. I didn’t even want to leave. We were pretty exhausted on arrival and just wanted to eat dinner, get back to the room, and relax. The food at the restaurant was excellent, I couldn’t be happier with the experience.

Hotel: The Edition NYC for a 2-nighter. We stay here often.

In a word: Trendy

Food and drinks:

  • Snack- Edition Bar
  • Dinner- Nobu Fifty Seven
  • Brunch- ABC Kitchen
  • Dinner and drinks- Catch + Hotel Chantelle
  • Green Juice- Pressed Juicery
  • Lunch- Red Farm Upper West Side

Highlights: Our friends from CT took the train into the city and joined us. The location next to Madison Square Park is super convenient, the divinely scented Le Labo products.

Fitness: Enjoyed a 30-minute cardio sesh with my girl in the hotel gym.

Thoughts: When we finally made it to the city, I was exhausted but it was amazing spending time with our friends strolling around the city.

Well, I am off to workout and get some laundry done. I’ll be back soon and hopefully from a clutter free working space xx
